Plymouth

Contract value: tbc

Completed: 2008

This project involved the refurbishment of the tired and dated interior of the existing Bistro/Bar area at the King’s Road Campus. A new modern, stylish coffee bar interior was proposed in which the students happily spend their break times relaxing, and also use as a fully functioning training area for their catering courses as required.

The recently refurbished adjacent Restaurant uses City College Plymouth’s new logo colour throughout. The brief for this Bar/Bistro space was to work with the existing Restaurant and circulation spaces, but to create a separate identity to them.  The chosen colour scheme is designed to be inviting and youthful, to create the appropriate atmosphere both in the daytime and evening.  The bar area has a more intimate feel to the airier café style of the Bistro.

The Bar and Bistro areas within the space are defined by either the floor or ceiling colour, by different furniture and wall and column treatments. New dividing screen/partitions to separate the Bar and Bistro from the adjacent circulation corridor have been specially designed to help direct customers into the space one way and out of another, as well as adding decorative interest and character to the space.
